City officials Tuesday finalized details for a $160,000 improvement project at Goodrich Park, awarding a construction bid and transferring additional funds for the project.

The project calls for construction of a pavilion with restrooms, sidewalks, fishing deck and a children's play structure, all aspects meeting accessibility requirements for people with disabilities. Officials expect work to begin in the middle of April and be done by June 30.

The city originally budgeted $100,000 for the entire project and previously awarded a bid of $29,253 for the play structure and installation. On Tuesday, the council approved Winberg Construction's low bid of $128,899 for construction of the shelter, sidewalks and fishing deck.

As part of its approval, the council authorized the transfer from the Tax Increment Finance Authority's savings to the project fund. The city previously was awarded a $90,500 grant from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund for the project.
